The course is being delivered in line with FAIB syllabus requirements for the FAIB Outdoor First Aid course. The course outline below is therefore based on these syllabus requirements but please give us advance notification of any other subjects you would like to see included, or if you need any specific in country advice.

Course details

Maximum Group 12

Duration: 16 hours of hands-on training plus extended, immersive scenarios delivered over two action-packed days—including a compulsory overnight stay in the woods.


Participants are welcome to arrive the evening before to settle in, maximise their time outdoors, and fully embrace the woodland environment.

Bring along your hammocks, tarps, or tents and set up your own woodland camp. If you’d prefer to hire equipment, our instructors can provide it and will be on hand throughout the course to share additional bushcraft skills and camping tips.

 

This overnight stay isn’t just a requirement—it’s a core part of the experience. Sleeping out in the woods enhances your learning, heightens your awareness, and prepares you for realistic, fully immersive first-aid scenarios that can’t be replicated in a classroom.

 

Perfect for adventurers, outdoor lovers, and anyone who wants to take their first-aid skills to the next level in a truly wild setting.

 

Location: Hosted by Spirited Adventure Ltd — rural venue. 13 acres of woodland. WV16 6SF Parking is available on site.

What to bring

  • Personal outdoor clothing suitable for the season (waterproofs, warm layers)
  • Sleep kit (sleeping bag, sleep mat)
  • Head torch with fresh batteries
  • Any personal medication and inhalers
  • Comfortable footwear for practical exercises

We can advise on foods to bring if you're self catering.

We will assist with tarps and tents for those hiring.

Prior to booking a set menu for full board will be available.

£195 per person - Self Catering & Camp with own kit.

£220 per person - Self Catering & hire of tarp or tent.

Price includes use of all training equipment, certificate, notes, tea & coffee, overnight camping in the woods, tarp or tent provided and self-catering.

 

£265 per person - Full Board & hire of tarp or tent.

Price includes use of all training equipment, certificate, notes, tea & coffee

overnight camping in the woods, tarp or tent provided and full meals. Set meals to be agreed prior to arrival.

 

Compulsory overnight stay. The course includes practical overnight scenarios and supervision — participants must be able to stay on site overnight. If this presents an issue, contact us to discuss alternatives.

Syllabus (overview)

Day 1 - 09:30 to 17:30  

Introduction, Quiz, First Aid Refresher Course, Casualty Evaluation, Safe Airway Position, Bandaging, First Aid Kits, High Altitude First Aid, Casualty Evaluation, Safe Airway position and CPR.

 

Evening — Overnight practical  

Overnight practical scenarios, prolonged care, managing in low-light and cold conditions. Accommodation and emergency shelter skills.

 

Day 2 — 08:30 to 16:30  

First Aid Refresher Course with scenarios, Medical conditions, Theoretical scenario exercise, Temperature related conditions and a Practical assessment.

 

Plenty of time is given for refreshments breaks & meals throughout the day.

Will I receive a certificate?

Tarp & Tent Hire

Book a tarp for the duration and make your own woodland campsite.

Book a place in a large bell tent sharing or Hire the entire bell tent, ask for exclusive hire rate.

Book a small 1-2 person nylon/polyester tent.
