Throughout the day, you’ll take part in practical activities within a simulated survival scenario, guided step-by-step by our experienced instructors.

What You’ll Learn

Knife Skills

Learn to safely and effectively use key bushcraft cutting tools, including knives and saws. Craft simple but practical woodland items while gaining confidence with tool handling and technique.

Shelter

Understand the importance of shelter in a survival situation—what it is, where to build it, and how to construct one.
Set up your own tarp or debris shelter to create weather protection using natural and provided materials.

Water

Discover why water is essential, how to locate it in the wild, and how to make it safe to drink.
Create a functional water filter and learn several purification methods.

Fire

Explore the reasons fire is vital—not just for warmth and cooking, but also for psychological comfort in a survival setting.
Try a range of natural and man-made ignition techniques, experiment with different fire lays, and build a fire suitable for cooking.

Food

Prepare simple, traditional campfire breads such as bannock or damper, using basic ingredients and foraged additions from the woodland around you.
